Our Team and Story

It had always been my dream to start my own surf school. But that didn't seem feasible from Zwolle. There isn't always enough wind for kitesurfing, and there aren't any waves in the middle of the country.

With the advent of the hydrofoil and Wingfoiling , that Wingfoiling completely. Suddenly, you can ride in almost any wind direction, even a light breeze is enough, and there are many more places to get out on the water. That’s why I started Wingfoil IJsseldelta in 2023: Wingfoiling the city, in places where it actually works.

It took me a long time Wingfoiling . I started with equipment that wasn’t suitable for beginners and without lessons, so I had to figure a lot of it out on my own. That took time and energy, but it also taught me where people often go wrong. Once I started with the right equipment and the right guidance, things suddenly went much faster. It became more fun, easier to understand, and I really made progress.

With water sports like kitesurfing, windsurfing, and Wingfoiling , you often Wingfoiling a few lessons. After that, it’s usually a matter of practicing on your own and getting out there. That’s actually pretty unique. In almost every other sport, you keep training or practicing under supervision. With surfing, you’re often expected to figure it out on your own afterward. And that’s exactly where it becomes a struggle for many people—they fumble around and sometimes give up, even before or after they’ve bought their own gear.

That’s also where the foundation for Wingfoil IJsseldelta was laid. It’s not just about giving lessons, but about helping people progress on their own through a smarter approach. We believe that Wingfoiling becomes Wingfoiling when you structure it differently—not just lessons, but a combination of practice, equipment, and the right conditions.

That’s why we don’t offer a set program, but rather different ways to learn. You can start with lessons, then move on to practice sessions and work with materials and knowledge that help you make progress more quickly. This way, you choose what you need and put together your own approach to make independent progress on the water.
