Frequently Asked Questions
CLASSES AND PRACTICE SESSIONS
Below are the FAQs about the classes
Do classes or practice sessions always take place?
Not always, but often.
An eFoil lesson and the first wingfoil lesson can usually go ahead, even in light winds. That’s because Wingfoiling Wingsurfing relatively little wind, and with the eFoil, we can practice even when there’s no wind.
Starting with the second wingfoil lesson and during practice sessions, more wind is needed. As a result, there’s a greater chance that these sessions will be rescheduled.
If the forecasted wind is too strong (around 20 knots or higher), there isn't enough wind, or the conditions aren't right, we'll reschedule the session. You'll be notified in advance.
Is Wingfoiling difficult?
Wingfoiling challenging at first, and falling is part of the process. With the right approach, it becomes much more accessible. You start on a stable board and can Foiling learn Foiling on the eFoil. Then you build up your skills step by step.
With the right materials and a smart approach, just about anyone can learn it.
Do I have to pay in advance?
Yes, you can pay through the website. You can reschedule your class up to a week in advance if you can't make it after all.
How many lessons do I need?
It varies from person to person, but usually after 2 to 3 lessons you’ll have enough of a foundation to keep practicing on your own. You won’t be able to do it perfectly yet, but you’ll have the control and confidence to make progress on the water on your own.
From that point on, progress comes mainly from practice. Many people then switch to practice sessions to continue building their skills, or take an extra lesson if that works better for them.
If you already have experience with windsurfing or Foiling, you'll often pick it up faster.
Can I also rent equipment from you?
We do not offer traditional rentals. Instead of individual rentals, we offer practice sessions, which are a type of guided rental.
You can participate in a practice session using your own equipment or rent (some of) the equipment. This way, you can practice on your own while still having access to the right facilities and guidance when needed.
Have you already taken a few classes with us and would you like to practice on your own using our materials? If so, please contact us to see what would be a good fit for your level.
Can you take multiple classes in 1 day?
That's possible, but it depends on the circumstances.
It is sometimes possible to combine an eFoil lesson and a wingfoil lesson in a single day, provided there is enough wind. You can also take two eFoil lessons in a single day. We do not recommend taking two wingfoil lessons in a single day.
Keep in mind that Wingfoiling is quite Wingfoiling demanding, and for most people, one session is enough to keep them learning effectively.
What is the minimum age?
For wingfoil lessons, we recommend a minimum age of 12.
For eFoiling, the minimum age is lower—starting at around 8 years old. This is an accessible way to get started with balancing and riding a board.
Is there anyone who wants to start Wingfoiling at a younger age? If so, please get in touch to see what’s possible. A swimming certificate is always required.
At what location will I be taught?
The location depends on the wind direction, wind speed, and conditions on the water. We assess which spot is most suitable each day. You will receive the final location no later than one day in advance.
You can indicate a preference when booking, but since we’re dependent on the weather and offer both wingfoil and eFoil lessons, the location may vary from lesson to lesson. We always choose the spot where you’ll learn best that day.
Can I book at a different time than the times indicated?
We offer a limited number of class sessions each weekend (Thursday through Sunday). On those days, we adjust the schedule based on the weather forecast so that everyone can take classes under optimal conditions.
We also deliberately set aside time for practice sessions, so there’s room to continue practicing under supervision. If you book well in advance, there’s often a bit more flexibility in the schedule.
When am I ready for a practice session?
You're ready for a practice session once you've mastered the basics and can sail on your own.
That means you can steer the wing, maintain your balance on the board, make turns without Foiling ride at a reasonable height. You don't need to know how Foiling yet. For most people, this happens after about 2 to 3 lessons.
From that point on, progress comes mainly from practice. During a practice session, you’ll cover distance on your own, with guidance when needed.
Can I teach Wingfoiling myself without lessons?
Yes, you can. A lot of people start that way. It usually takes more time to figure everything out on your own, such as technique, equipment, and the right conditions.
With the right approach, you can speed up the learning process significantly. Think of lessons to build a solid foundation, guided practice, and, for example, learning the feel of foiling on an eFoil.
This way, you'll make faster progress, and learning will often be more fun and easier to follow.
Which wingfoil material is best for me to purchase?
That depends on your weight, skill level, where you're paddling, and what your goal is.
For beginners, it’s important to start with stable and forgiving equipment. Think of a larger board and a foil that provides lift easily. This will help you learn faster and avoid frustration. Many people make the mistake of buying equipment that’s too small or too technical when they’re just starting out, which makes learning unnecessarily difficult.
We're happy to help you with personalized advice based on your situation. This will help you avoid making the wrong purchases and ensure you get the most out of your equipment.
What languages do you teach in?
We teach in Dutch and English.
We can't conduct the entire class in German, but we can make ourselves somewhat understood by German-speaking participants.
